Officiant Cheryl Castillo and her partner Jose eloped in 2017
My Elopement Story
Jose and I eloped in 2017. We weren't planning on it but the opportunity to marry presented itself and we took it. I love telling our elopement story! We were looking for a house to purchase where we could settle down. We knew we didn't need to be married to do that but it would benefit us to use the Veteran Administration benefits. Jose is a veteran of the Navy. He likes to say that I married him for his benefits.
One evening, I was scrolling Facebook and a friend of mine who is a photographer posted that her friend who was an officiant had a marriage license available that was going to expire. I don't know what happened to the couple who had planned to use it. The officiant offered to marry a couple for $100 in her home office but it had to be done within the next 3 days. I looked at Jose with a huge smile on my face, showed him the post, and he said "Let's do it - let's elope!" Three days later, we were married in Officiant Elysia's home office on a Wednesday evening while I was wearing flip flops!
This year (2022), we celebrate 5 years of marriage and I am excited to marry others and support them in their elopement journey. I would be honored to be a part of your exciting elopement story.
About Officiant Cheryl Castillo
I am so excited to be on this journey with you! I decided to become an ordained minister on the fifth anniversary of my elopement. I am the type of person that cries when the vows are read at a wedding. I get overjoyed by the love that one can have for the love/s of their life. I was ordained as a minister online by several organizations including Universal Life Church, American Marriage Ministries, and Open Ministry. I practice in the State of California which recognizes my ordination as a minister and allows me to perform marriages. See California Legislative Code regarding who can solemnize marriages. I am a non-denominational minister and open to performing marriages of all types. I would love to help you in crafting a unique ceremony that speaks to who you are as partners in life. We can work together and integrate your history, culture, beliefs, and especially your family and friends as you desire. My goal is to make the process of joining together in matrimony as stress-free and fun as possible. Join me as we take this journey together.
